BernieWelcome

I am Bernie Fandrich, founder of Kumsheen Rafting Resort and pioneer of whitewater rafting on BC’s Thompson River.

Welcome to an interactive presentation of the first of several segments of my new book:

RAFTING AND OTHER TALES:
BC's LEGENDARY THOMPSON RIVER

Throughout the book, you can move from map to map, up or down the Thompson River between Lytton and Spences Bridge.

As you move along the river, each map has a number of red dots that mark places of interest. You can click on any of these red dots. Some of them mark the legendary rapids that make the Thompson River a world-class whitewater experience. Some mark stories with historical value, some mark descriptions of fantastic scenery along the way, and some mark, well, just stories.

Map 1 Spences Bridge The CN Wye The Put In Nicola River

You can start just above the town of Spences Bridge, where the rafting day usually starts, by clicking here. Click on the left arrow to continue downstream when you have finished exploring.

Or, you can begin half way between Spences Bridge and Lytton at Nicomen, the beginning of the Devil’s Gorge. From Nicomen to Lytton are 16 km of the biggest and the best rapids on the river.

Or, you can start at the rafting take-out—the “kumsheen,” the confluence of the Thompson and Fraser Rivers — by clicking here. Click on the arrow to travel upriver when you have finished exploring.

At any time, you can return to the Table of Contents or connect to the Kumsheen Rafting Resort website by clicking on the logo at the bottom of each map page.
